ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team erased a 2-0 second-half deficit as it played to a 2-2 tie with Urbana Friday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Anderson Field.
The Blue Knights (1-10-1, 1-9-1 MEC) scored for the first time in the 31
st minute and then extended its lead in the 55
th minute. However, CU (3-5-3, 3-4-3 MEC) earned a penalty kick after a UU foul two minutes later. Sophomore
Pilar Elias buried the PK in the lower right corner to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The next shot the Mountain Lions took in the game was another shot from Elias after UU committed a handball in the penalty area in the 81
st minute. Elias stepped up a buried another penalty shot to knot the game at 2-2.
Urbana was able to get off one shot in the final nine minutes of regulation, but the shot was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper

In the first overtime stanza, each team had a shot got high over the goal as sophomore defender
Joanna Aiello sailed one high and UU had a header miss the target. Simpkins was forced to make two more saves over the final 10 minutes of the contest to keep the game tied.

For Elias, it was her second and third scores of the season.
The Mountain Lions travel to Shepherd 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Earlier in the season, the teams played to a scoreless draw in Athens.
