BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team fell to West Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0, Tuesday night in Mountain East Conference play at Culpepper Stadium.
Sophomore Emiliy Simpkins was forced to two saves in the first half for Concord (3-5-2, 3-4-2 MEC) while junior midfielder
Micharae Thompson put a shot on goal for the Mountain Lions forcing a save from Chelsea Hubner of WVWC (7-0-3, 6-0-3 MEC) just seconds before halftime.
Simpkins made two more saves in the early going of the second half to keep the game scoreless, but Wesleyan's Laura Hill was able to sneak into the net in the 69
th minute for the game's lone goal.
The Bobcats outshot the Mountain Lions 19-1 and owned an advantage of 10-1 on shots on goal. Simpkins made a total of nine saves for the Maroon and Gray. J
Concord returns home to face Urbana 2:00 p.m. Friday.
