SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio- The Concord University men's soccer team fell to the home-standing Notre Dame College Falcons 6-0 in Mountain East Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Concord falls to 4-5 on the season (2-4 MEC), while NDC improves to 5-3 on the season (5-1 MEC).
Seven minutes into the game, Leonardo Paiva found the back of the net to put the Mountain Lions at an early disadvantage. CU looked to respond just two minutes later as freshman midfielder
Yacouba Issa Traore had his effort blocked at the 9:33 mark. Paiva would strike again in the 32
nd and 44
th minute to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
Three more goals in the second half rounded out the scoring for the Falcons. Freshman forward
Sam Ashton had Concord's other attempt at the 32:36 mark in the first half.
Concord was outshot 28-2 by the Falcons, with NDC holding an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
CU returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Buckhannon, West Virginia to play West Virginia Wesleyan College. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
