Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Concord Outlasted by Shepherd, 75-72

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – After shooting 62 percent in the first half, the Concord University women's basketball team picked the wrong time to go cold from the field as it fell 75-72 Monday night in Mountain East Conference competition to Shepherd at the Butcher Center.

In a back-and-forth game with the Rams (3-8, 2-3 MEC), Concord (3-7, 2-3 MEC) was 2-for-12 from the floor down the stretch of the game that proved to be the ultimate difference in the contest.

CU and Shepherd each opened the game with stellar shooting as Shepherd shot 40 percent from the floor in the first half while the Mountain Lions did one better with an 18-for-29 showing from the field. It was the highest-shooting half for Concord in a game this season.

A three-pointer by sophomore guard Danielle Catron cut CU's deficit to 44-41 at halftime.

Out of halftime, the Mountain Lions opened up on a 7-2 run to take a 48-46 lead with 7:09 left in the third quarter. After battling throughout the rest of the third quarter, the Rams held a small 57-56 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Much like the third quarter, Concord started the final stanza by scoring seven of the first 11 points to hold a 63-61 edge with 6:19 remaining.

A 66-65 advantage would be the last time CU would lead after a three-pointer by freshman Emily Boothe.

However, two missed foul shots by Kristen Nunn with five seconds gave the Mountain Lions one final chance to force overtime, but the final shot was off the mark as Concord fell 75-72.

Senior forward Kylie Molisee had her best game as a Mountain Lion by recording 23 points and 16 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.

Meanwhile, junior guard Olivia Morgan notched 12 points and three assists. Boothe scored 10 points for her fourth double-digit scoring game in the last five contests.

Concord finished the game shooting 46 percent (29-for-63) from the field and 91 percent from the foul line (10-for-11).

SU held advantages in attempted free throws (33-11), made free throws (24-10) and steals (13-5).

Morgan Arden led the Rams with 29 points.
