WHEELING, W.Va. - The Concord University men's soccer team took home a 2-0 victory over Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday evening at Bishop Schmitt Field in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Concord improves to 1-1 and 1-0 in the Mountain East Confernece this season while the Cardinals are now 1-1-1 and 0-1-0 against league foes.

Maximillian Simpson each tallied their first goals of the season in the 50
th and 85
th minute respectively.
Concord was outshot 17-4 while Wheeling Jesuit also held the advantage in shots on goal 10-4.
Wheeling totaled 11 of their 17 shots in the first half and looked to get a goal early on, but could not find a way past the Concord defense and senior goalkeeper
Mitchell Thompson.
Thompson recorded 10 saves on the night, including a diving stop late in the first half to deny the Cardinals of a goal right before halftime. The Mountain Lion defense also recorded their first clean sheet of the season.
The Cardinals also held the advantage in corner kicks 9-1.
CU scored early in the second half when Wheeling Jesuit goalkeeper Mathew McCormick saved two shots in the penalty area, and Hardman tucked the rebound into the back of the net on the third attempt. Simpson added his goal by beating the keeper in a one on one situation after finding himself alone behind the WJU defense.

Concord continues Mountain East Conference play when they travel to Shepherd on Sunday, September 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
