ERIE, Pa. – The Concord University volleyball team finished its time at the Mercyhurst-Gannon Invitational Saturday as it fell in two matches against Edinboro and Gannon.
Match 1: Edinboro 3 – Concord 1After losing the first two sets to the Fighting Scots, Concord (1-13) answered with a  26-24 win in the third game, but came up short in four sets. Â
In the third set, CU had to hold off Edinboro as EU erased 19-12 deficit to tie the set at 24. However, a kill by freshman setter
Jayden Jacobs and a service ace by sophomore setter
Casey Mandeville propelled CU to a two-point win.
The Fighting Scots won their three sets by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-19.
Freshman outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus paced the Mountain Lions with 12 kills while sophomore middle hitter Alexi Elliott had 11 kills. Freshman libero
Erin Shannon collected a career-high 26 digs and Mandeville dished out 21 assists.
Match 2: Gannon 3 – Concord 0 CU dropped the match to the Golden Knights (11-25, 18-25, 13-25).
Pranckus followed up 12-kill performance against Edinboro with eight kills against GU.
And Shannon turned in a 21-dig effort for the Maroon and Gray.
Concord opens Mountain East Conference play 7:00 p.m. Friday at Charleston.
