INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Concord University dropped game one of a Mountain East Conference doubleheader against West Virginia State 10-9 before breaking out the bats again in game two to win 8-0.
The Mountain Lions' record now stands at 30-14 overall and 18-6 in the MEC while West Virginia State is 25-15 overall and have put together a 15-11 mark against conference competition.
Game 1: West Virginia State 10 – Concord 9 (Eight Innings)Seven runs in WVSU's final three at-bats forced the game into extra innings as the Yellow Jackets' Sydney Kaplan hit a walk-off single in the eighth.
CU jumped out to a 7-3 lead after four innings as junior catcher
Alyssa Morris' two-RBI single highlighted a five-run fourth inning for the Mountain Lions.

Alycea Watson all had one RBI in the early going for the Mountain Lions.
A four-run fifth inning by WVSU knotted the game at 5-5, however, the Mountain Lions scored two more runs in the seventh as Morris launched her 14
th home run of the season, and Lewis, who tallied a one-out triple, scored on a run-scoring single from junior pitcher
Allie Reid.
But, West Virginia State scored plated two in its final at-bat before walking off in the eighth inning.
Reid (7-4) was the pitcher of record for CU in a relief effort.
Morris and Reid had three and two RBI, respectively, while sophomore shortstop
Alayna Furr had a team-best three hits.
Game 2: Concord 8 – West Virginia State 0 (Six Innings)The Concord bats stayed hot as it combined with outstanding pitching from Reid, who redeemed herself from game to throw five six shutout innings while allowing just two hits to WVSU, as the Mountain Lions made short work of the Yellow Jackets
CU scored two runs on a Yellow Jackets' error in the third inning as Watson was credited to two RBI.
The Mountain Lions added three in the fourth inning before Lewis gave CU a 7-0 lead in the fifth with a two-run home run that scored Reid.
And Morris capped her impressive day by recording an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Freshman outfielder
Emily Fry, Lewis and Watson each had two RBI in the win. It was Fry's first career multi-RBI game.
Concord will finish its regular season this weekend with a doubleheader at home against Charleston 6:00 p.m. Friday and at home Saturday against West Virginia State.
