Box Score 2 WISE, Va. – The Concord University softball swept a doubleheader from UVa.-Wise, 8-0 and 11-2, Tuesday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action.
CU (29-13, 17-5 MEC) made easy work of the Cavaliers (8-22, 8-16 MEC) as the Mountain Lions won both games in five innings.
Game 1: Concord 8 – Uva.-Wise 0 (Five Innings)Junior catcher
Alyssa Morris highlighted the offensive attack for the Mountain Lions as she went 3-for-3, hitting her MEC-leading 13th home run and driving in five runs.
Senior pitcher / first baseman
Lacey McDougall shut down the Cavaliers' hitter as she improved to 14-5 this season. McDougall limited UVa.-Wise to three hits in five innings of work.
After scoring a run in the first on Morris' solo home and adding two runs in the third on a two-RBI double from the Virginia Beach, Virginia native, the Mountain Lions piled on five runs in the fourth as Morris added her fourth and fifth RBI of the game while sophomore outfielder
Lauren Lewis tallied a sacrifice fly. Junior second baseman
Kristen Rose scored on a bases-loaded walk and freshman infielder
Alycea Watson raced home on a UVa.-Wise fielding blunder to give CU an 8-0 lead after the five-run fourth.
McDougall added three strikeouts in addition to limiting the Cavaliers to three hits.
Game 2: Concord 11 – UVa.-Wise 2 (Five Innings)Seven CU batters tallied at least one RBI in the nightcap as McDougall and Morris led the way with three and two RBI, respectively.
The Mountain Lions had scored three runs in the second, third and fifth to cruise to the nine-run victory.
McDougall, Morris and Watson all had RBI in the second inning while McDougall added to her RBI total in the third inning with a two-run double to right center field. Senior outfielder
Jessica Seymour also notched an RBI single in the frame.
Concord went on to score five more runs in the game, pounding out a total of 14 hits, the most since March 22 at Shepherd. McDougall was 4-for-4 at the plate in game two while Lewis, Morris and Seymour each had two hits in the nightcap.

Katie Snodgress recorded her sixth of the season as tossed the first four innings. Junior pitcher
Allie Reid recorded the final three outs for the Mountain Lions.
Concord will play at West Virginia State 4:00 p.m. Thursday.
