FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team outscored Fairmont State 19-1 in 12 innings of play as they cruised to two wins on the opening day of Mountain East Conference play for both teams.
With the win, the Mountain Lions moved to 14-8 and have now won nine in a row while FSU dropped to 8-3 this season.

Lacey McDougall was an exclamation point on a seven-run inning by CU in the second.
Entering the second inning, neither team had scored but Concord opened the scoring as pinch runner senior second baseman

Courtney Purtell both scored on wild pitches by Fairmont State's Bailey Shade.

It was McDougall's fourth home run of the season and her 15
th career homer.
The Chesapeake, Virginia native added a fifth later in the contest. Additionally, McDougall improved her record to 6-3 in the circle as she recorded her fourth consecutive shutout.

Alyssa Morris all had RBI in a three-run fourth inning as CU disposed of the Fighting Falcons in five innings.
Furr and Morris both recorded two hits in the win.
Game 2: Concord 9 – Fairmont State 1The Mountain Lions continued their scoring assault as the put three runs in the top of the first inning and added two more in the third, fifth and seventh as they clinched a sweep of FSU.

Concord got some help from some erratic pitching from the Fighting Falcons that setup scoring plays from Reid and freshman shortstop / third baseman

Katie Snodgress and Reid combined to hold FSU to one run in seven innings, Lewis aided the offensive effort in the fifth inning, launching her fourth home run of the season, tying her for second on the team with McDougall to increase CU's lead to 7-0 after the two-run blast.
CU went on to add two more runs in the seventh to roll to a 9-1 win over Fairmont State.
Over the last four games, Concord has outscored its opponents 38-4.
Reid ran her record to 3-2 by tossing the final four innings of game two as she limited FSU to two hits and struck out three batters.
Lewis had three RBI in a 3-for-4 effort at the plate for CU while Reid and Rose each had two RBI.
The Mountain Lions will seek to run its winning streak to double digits when they play at Shepherd 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
