Concord Travels to Winston-Salem, Davis & Elkins in Non-Conference Play

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C- The Concord University women's basketball team will look to continue its recent success on the court when it takes on Winston-Salem State and Davis & Elkins in a pair of road games.  The Mountain Lions head into Monday's matchup with Winston-Salem State with a 3-4 record overall and a 2-2 record in Mountain East Conference play.  Winston-Salem State is currently 2-4 and sit in fifth place in the Southern Division of the CIAA.  Davis & Elkins are 3-5 overall and are 0-0 in conference play.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Several Concord players have set new career-highs this season, and two have set career-highs in every statistical category this season.

• Sophomore guard Danielle Catron and junior guard Alexis Lowery have set career-highs in every statistical category this season. 

• Catron has set a new career-high in points (21), rebounds (eight), and assists (four), as well as other statistical categories. 

• Catron's previous career high in points going into this season was 16 points, and she has eclipsed that mark three times already this year.

• Lowery has broken numerous career highs as well, with points (18), assists (seven), and minutes (24). 

• Lowery's previous career highs going into this season were five points, one assist, and she played a total of 26 minutes all of last season. 

• Concord has now taken the lead in field goal percentage defense in the MEC. 

• The Mountain Lions are currently allowing their opponents to shoot just 37.6 percent from the field. 

• CU has allowed their opponents to shoot under 40 percent in five of their seven games so far.

• The Mountain Lions have also faced two of the top four scoring offenses so far this season, allowing Glenville State (1) to shoot 42 percent, and West Virginia Wesleyan, (4) to shoot 32 percent.

• Concord has two players who currently average over 10 points per game: Catron, and senior forward Kylie Molisee who averages 14.6 and 13.4 points per game, respectively. 

• However, Concord has three other players who currently average over six points per game. 

• Freshman guard Emily Boothe averages 7.1 ppg, Lowery averages 6.7 ppg, and sophomore guard Lindsey Overbey averages 6.6 ppg.

• Concord's lone senior has increased her statistics by a substantial margin in leading Concord to a 2-2 start in conference play. 

• Molisee has improved her scoring by 1.6 ppg, and has improved her rebounding by 1.8 rpg. 

• Molisee is also shooting close to where she shot last year in regards to efficiency, shooting 40 percent from the field this season compared to 43 percent last season. 

• Molisee has also notched a career-high in points (24) vs. West Virginia Wesleyan in Concord's 73-70 win.

Scouting Winston-Salem State
• Winston-Salem State and Concord will meet for the first time in their history on Monday. 

• The Rams are currently 2-4 on the year and have not played a conference game yet this season. 

• WSSU averages 61 points per game on the year, and are led in scoring by sophomore forward Kandace Tate, who averages 14.5 ppg. 

• She also averages 8.8 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks per game. 

• The Rams have played two MEC opponents this season, beating Shepherd 68-46 on the road and falling to UVa.-Wise 66-55 at a neutral site.     

Scouting Davis & Elkins
• Davis & Elkins head into Wednesday's matchup with Concord with a 3-5 record overall. 

• The Senators started the season 0-5, but have now won three straight heading into the matchup. 

• The Senators are led in scoring by Stephanie Wooten, who also leads the GMAC in scoring with 20.7 points per game. 

• She also leads the GMAC in assists per game with 4.5 apg.
