Concord Opens Season at CIAA-MEC Challenge

ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team opens its season on Friday, November 13 when they travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina for the CIAA-MEC challenge.  Concord opens up with the host Fayetteville State on Friday at 4 p.m., and concludes the tournament when they play Shaw on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Mountain Lion Notes
• Senior forward Kylie Molisee is the team's lone senior on the roster this season, and the Mountain Lions will look for her this season to continue the success that she had in 2014-15. 

• The Peck, Kansas native averaged  11.8  ppg and 7.8 rebounds per game in 24 games last season. 

• The Mountain Lions lost over 55 percent of their scoring from last season, but Molisee accounted for 15 percent of last season's scoring total by herself. 

• Molisee also accounted for four double doubles last season, and Concord will continue to rely on her experience for team that returns  three juniors and 12 freshman and sophomores combined take the court this season. 

• Concord started the season against Shaw and Fayetteville State last year, but struggled from the field in two losses. 

• Concord combined to shoot 31.3 percent from the field in the two games versus Shaw and FSU last season. 

• Molisee had eight points vs. Fayetteville State, Morgan added nine points, and Concord's bench contributed 11 points, including five from Danielle Catron, and four from Lindsey Overbey.   

• CU will look to reverse the trend this year, as almost 50 percent of the 56 points scored in the Shaw game return with Kylie Molisee having 16 points vs. the Bears and Olivia Morgan contributing eight points.  

• Concord went winless in non-conference play last season in a challenging schedule. 

• Concord's opponents last season in non-conference play finished a combined 100-67 for a combined win percentage of .599. 

• Concord will look to get in the win column early in rematches with Shaw and Fayetteville State, as well as two games with Bluefield State, and road matchups with Winston-Salem State and Davis & Elkins.              

• Concord finished last season 5-8 on the road, and will look to improve upon that record this season. 

• Concord has two major road trips this season, as they play seven games away from home in a row in a stretch that starts on December 12th and finishes a month later after the New Year when they travel to Urbana on January 12th. 

• The Mountain Lions then have a four game stretch from February 4 through February 13 of games where they travel.       

Scouting Fayetteville State
• Concord was defeated by Fayetteville State last season 57-45. 

• Fayetteville State's leading returning scorer is Doreen Richardson, who averaged 10.5 ppg last year. 

• Bria Robinson is the leading returning rebounder at 7.5 rpg.  Richardson is the top returning player for assists, averaging 3.8 apg last season. 

• The Broncos finished 8-18 overall last season.

Scouting Shaw
• Concord fell to Shaw last season 69-56. 

• The Bears lost leading scorer Verdine Warner, who averaged 19.6 ppg last season. 

• The leading returning scorer for Shaw is Tabatha Anderson, who averaged 9.7 ppg last season. 

• The Bears also return Kaula Jacks and Fantasha Tyson who averaged 8.5 and 8.2 ppg respectively from a team that finished 19-11 last season and advanced to the CIAA Tournament semifinals.
