ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19) Friday night at the Carter Center in Mountain East Conference play.
After falling behind after one set, the Mountain Lions (3-18, 2-3 MEC) fought back to win the second set which they dominated, leading by 21-12 at one point. CU opened up the big gap with a 14-5 run after the match was tied 7-7.
The run was triggered by excellent serving from Concord as sophomore outside hitter
Lisette Roldan and freshman libero
Erin Shannon combined for four service aces.
The Mountain Lions raced out to a 19-10 lead in the third set as sophomore middle hitter

Brooke Heck and freshman outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus combined for eight kills during the stretch.
Concord finished off West Virginia Wesleyan (7-11, 1-4 MEC) by winning seven of the match's final eight points after it was tied 18-18. Pranckus had two kills and Shannon completed the match with a service ace.
The Mountain Lions finished one service ace off their season-high of 13 with 12 against the Bobcats.
Individually, Roldan and Shannon each set career-highs in aces with four apiece.
Pranckus collected a personal-best 16 kills to go along with 12 digs en route to her team-high fourth double-double of the season.
Heck and Hoffman each contributed five blocks in the match, and as a team Concord had 10. Sophomore setter
Casey Mandeville finished with 21 assists, her sixth match of the season with 20 or more assists.
The Mountain Lions hosts Glenville State 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Carter Center.
