URBANA, Ohio- The Concord University women's soccer team lost 1-0 on the road to Urbana University in a Mountain East Conference matchup.
Concord falls to 3-5-4 overall (2-5-4 MEC) while Urbana improves to 5-9 overall (4-6 MEC).
Concord got off to a fast start as they registered four shot attempts in the opening 10 minutes of the match, including a shot from junior forward
Emily Cole that forced a save from Urbana goalkeeper Taylor Gianangeli. Urbana then tallied six shots throughout the next 12 minutes of play, forcing three saves from freshman goalkeeper
Emily Simpkins.
Urbana outshot the Mountain Lions 11-8 in the opening half, and registered the first goal when Urbana's Savannah Thomas scored her third goal of the season off of an assist from Taylor Greene.
Concord began the second half with senior forward

Micharae Thompson also had a chance but had her header saved in the 73

Margot Provencher each had an opportunity as well to give Concord a tying goal, but had their shots turned away in the 82
nd and 87
th minute respectively.
Simon had seven shots total, with three being on goal, while Cole attempted four shots, with two being on frame.
Gianangeli had eight saves for the Blue Knights, while Simpkins registered seven saves of her own. Over her last three games, Simpkins has 29 saves. Urbana held a narrow edge in shots overall 16-15 and the two teams were even in shots on goal at eight apiece.
Concord returns home on Sunday, October 11 to face Shepherd in a Mountain East Conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
