URBANA, Ohio- The Concord University men's soccer team fell 4-0 on the road to nationally ranked Urbana University on Friday.
Concord falls to 3-8 on the season (2-6 MEC). Urbana improves to 9-1-1 on the year (7-1 MEC).
The two teams were at a stalemate through the first 36 minutes in large part because of the play of senior goalkeeper
Mitchell Thompson, who made four saves throughout that span. Urbana eventually broke the deadlock after scoring a penalty kick in the 37
th minute. UU then struck again shortly afterwards to make it 2-0 in the 38
th minute.
The Blue Knights added two goals in the second half to finish the scoring.
Thompson made 10 saves overall, sophomore midfielder Max Simpson, senior midfielder
David Nwankwo, and senior defender
Joe Sweet each had a shot on goal for the Mountain Lions.
Concord returns home to play Shepherd in a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday, October 11.
