ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team held off the nationally-ranked University of Charleston Golden Eagles for a half, but fell 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field in Mountain East Conference competition.
UC (14-1, 9-1 MEC) fired off nine first shots with two being on goal, but senior goalkeeper
Logan Powell made two saves to keep the game scoreless.
Sophomore midfielder Max Simpson created his own chance at shot on goal in the 27
th minute of the contest.
The Golden Eagles would go ahead with two goals in a 35-second span in the 63
rd and 64
th minute. Charleston added another goal in the 90
th minute of the game.
For Concord (3-12, 2-9 MEC), sophomore midfielder
Alex Rhodes recorded two shots with senior midfielder Matt Guilliams, freshman forward
Jonathan Hardman, freshman defender Sergio
Moreno and Simpson each recording one.
Powell made six saves in goal.
The Mountain Lions face Notre Dame on the road 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
