Aaron Miller both scored 22 points, but it wasn't quite enough as the Concord University men's basketball team lost 89-82 to Glenville State Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at the Carter Center.
The Mountain Lions (11-6, 7-5 MEC) jumped out to an 18-10 lead with eight minutes gone in the game. Hopewell spearheaded the Concord offense as he scored early 10 points including two dunks.
Concord was able to fend off Glenville State (14-4, 10-2 MEC) until GSC knotted the game up at 31-31 with 3:54 left in the half. Both teams would score nine points to finish the half and continue to be locked up after 20 minutes of play at 40-40.

Over the first seven minutes of the second half, Concord and GSC traded the lead five times and were tied five times. With 12:56 left in the contest, the game was 50-50.
Glenville State outscored the Mountain Lions 16-5 over the next six minutes to hold its largest lead of the game at 66-55 with 6:46 remaining. CU was able to get as close as 84-80 with 35 seconds left after senior guard
Mike Boyd converted two foul shots. However, the Pioneers made 5-of-6 free throws over the final 35 seconds to down the Mountain Lions by the seven-point margin.
After a relatively quiet first half, Miller had 18 second half points as he connected on four three-pointers and hit all six free throws in the game's second 20 minutes. Â Hopewell added 11 rebounds for his team-best fifth double-double of the season.
Reed came off the Mountain Lion bench to provide 14 points.
A game after dishing out a career-high six assists, Hamlet handed out five assists to tie Boyd for the team lead.
The Pioneers' Reggie Williams led all scorers with 24 points.
CU bested Glenville State in points in the paint (34-28), rebounds (39-35), second chance points (19-8) and bench points (22-13).
The Mountain Lions will host West Virginia Wesleyan 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
