SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Concord University women's basketball team was defeated by Notre Dame College, 80-71, on the road Saturday afternoon at the Keller Center in Mountain East Conference action.
Junior forward
Andrea Bertrand led the way for Concord (9-9, 7-7 MEC) with 19 points and seven rebounds. Bertrand, who shot 6-for-14 from the field, earned seven of her points from the charity stripe on 7-for-8 shooting to tie her season-high in free throws made. She now stands 64 points way from 1,000 career points.
Junior guard
Sissy Wagner added 18 points for the Mountain Lions on 7-for-12 shooting from the field. Saturday marked the sixth time in eight games that Wagner scored at least 15 points in a game. In addition to her scoring, Wagner dished out four assists while committing just a single turnover. Â
Fellow junior guard
Rachel Artrip was the third Concord player to finish the contest in double figures with 10 points while recording a block and grabbing three rebounds.

Jacqueline Kestner went a combined 10-for-12 from the foul with Webster scoring seven points and Kestner recording nine points and nine rebounds. Kestner came away a steal in the contest as well. The Blountville, Tenn.-native now has at least one steal in 15 of 18 games this season.
The first half was a back and forth battle between CU and Notre Dame (10-7, 7-6 MEC). With the score tied at 7-7 in the first 3:30 of play, the Falcons managed to rattle off a 6-0 spurt over the next two minutes. Concord answered by scoring eight points in a row to take a 15-13 lead with 9:22 remaining in the first half.
Not to be outdone, NDC began a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to retake the lead, 22-17. Concord responded with an Artrip three-pointer and a Wagner jump shot on back-to-back possessions to tie the contest.

Alley Odell converted a layup and jumper in addition to making a free throw. Odell's jumper with 50 seconds left until halftime cut the NDC lead to 34-31.
Wagner would add another jumper in the final seconds of the period that would trim Mountain Lions' deficit to one point at intermission.
The Falcons scored the second half's first six points to push its lead to seven points before Webster hit a pair of free throws to stop the run. Five straight points by Wagner then quickly made it a one-possession game at 42-40 with 16:56 left in regulation.
However, the Falcons ended Concord's bid for its seventh road win of the year by outscoring CU 23-14 over the next nine minutes to open up an 11-point lead en route to its 80-71 victory.
Concord held edges over Notre Dame in made free throws (21-19), free-throw percentage (77.8-76.0) and turnovers forced (11-10).
Odell's five points was her best scoring output since going for seven points Nov. 18 at Bluefield State.
Martha Nagbe led Notre Dame with a game-high 24 points.
The Mountain Lions will remain on the road for Moday's contest at Urbana University. TIpoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
