BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team never trailed against Bluefield State as they cruised to an 86-64 win Friday night at BSC Currence Classic.
Concord improves to 4-1 overall while the Blues fall to 1-4.
The Mountain Lions were led by junior forward
Jametrius Wade, who recorded his first double-double of the season by scoring 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting and pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds.

Aaron Miller made 4-of-5 three-point attempts and 6-of-8 field goals overall to also finish with 20 points, right at his season average.
CU jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead over the first four minutes of the game with Wade scoring eight points. After BSC narrowed its deficit to 12-8, the Mountain Lions responded with long 21-6 run. After the extended spurt, Concord led 33-14 with four minutes left in the half.

The Blues trimmed the CU lead to 40-26 at halftime, but Concord remained in control. During the first 20 minutes of play the Mountain Lions shot a blistering 66 percent (16-for-24) from the field and
The Mountain Lions never allowed Bluefield State to get within single digits of CU's commanding lead in the second half as CU led by as much as 27, 63-36, after a Reed layup with 12:27 remaining in the game. In fact, Concord led by 20 or more over the last 13:30 of the game.
Concord forced 10 Bluefield State turnovers in the second half as the Mountain Lions scored 46 points, the second-most points in any half for CU this season.
Joining Miller and Wade in double figures was Boyd (15) and Reed, who scored a career-high 12 points.
Concord held edges in points in the paint (18-16), made foul shots (12-10) and three-point percentage (53.3-40.0). The Mountain Lions shot a season-high 60 percent from the field 33-for-55 while holding BSC to 42.6 percent (23-for-54.
Dajon Reno led Bluefield State with 17 points.
Concord will play its second game at the Currence Classic 4:00 p.m. Saturday versus Francis Marion.
