ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team will close its road portion of the schedule Saturday afternoon with a trip to Notre Dame College at 12:00 p.m.
RECORDSConcord has an overall mark of 5-6-4 and 3-5-4 in the Mountain East Conference. The Mountain Lions are sixth in the league standings
Meanwhile, Notre Dame has a record of 10-1-2 overall and 9-1-2 overall and sit atop the MEC rankings.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS• With two games left in the regular season, the Mountain Lions remain in contention for a conference playoff berth as the top four teams make the postseason.
• Concord has 13 points, but needs to climb over West Liberty (14) and Shepherd (18).
• Concord will need to win both remaining games to stay in contention. A single win by Shepherd in one of its two remaining games versus Urban and West Liberty would also knock the Mountain Lions out.
•
Scenario One- Two Concord wins, two Shepherd losses and tie for West Liberty against Wheeling Jesuit and a win versus Shepherd would clinch a playoff berth for CU.
•
Scenario Two- If Shepherd were to draw with Urbana and lose to West Liberty while Concord won both games, CU and Shepherd would be tied in the league standings with 19 points. However, Shepherd would get the nod since they outscored Concord 4-3 this season.
•
Scenario Three- If Shepherd draws in both games, they would have 20 points and would knock Concord out.
•
Scenario Four- If Shepherd losses both remaining games, Concord wins both remaining games and West Liberty wins two games, WLU would sneak into the playoffs just ahead of both teams.
