Concord Goes for Win vs. Ohio Valley

ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team looks to snap its four-game losing streak in a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up against Ohio Valley University at the Carter Center on Saturday. CU defeated the Fighting Scots, 72-48, the last time the two schools met.

• Concord will play in one of its final four regular season games with an overall record of 6-18 and a WVIAC mark of 5-13. 

• Ohio Valley is 2-21 overall and 2-17 in league play. Ohio Valley snapped an eight-game losing streak with a double-overtime win over WV Wesleyan.

Series
• Concord has won nine of 10 games against the Fighting Scots and lead the series 16-5 dating back to the 1994-95 season.

• CU defeated Ohio Valley 72-48 on Jan 7 marking their biggest victory of the season with six assists from junior guard Stephanie Wagner and ten points from sophomore forward Jacqueline Kestner.

Scouting Concord
• Wagner has scored 14.3 ppg over the last three games, up from her season average of 9.8 ppg.

• Kestner has two double-doubles in CU last four games.

• Senior guard Katy Somerville leads CU in three-pointers made this season, averaging 1.5 per game. She made a career-high four against Davis & Elkins.

• Kestner has 149 rebounds this year for a Concord-best 6.2 per game (2.7 offensive rpg).

• Matching a personal-best, junior guard Amanda Smith tallied a game-high with three steals in CU's against D&E, giving her nine takeaways in the last four games.

• Smith leads Concord and ranks 15th in the WVIAC in scoring at 13.4 ppg. Smith is also ninth in the WVIAC in free throw shooting.

• In the Mountain Lion's last five games they have averaged 68.6 points, 8.4 steals, 2.2 blocks, 14 assists, and 34.8 rebounds.

• Wagner ranks fourth in NCAA Division II in assist/turnover ratio (2.51) as well as 15th in the nation with 5.1 assists per game. Wagner's efforts have propelled her to the top spot in the WVIAC for assist/turnover ratio and third in assists.

• Junior center Sammi Webster, who leads the team with 15 blocks this season.

Scouting Ohio Valley
Ohio Valley is led by Jasmine Gibson's 15.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Shelby Way and Kayla Ross chip in 12.1 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.

The Coaches
Concord head coach Kenny Osborne is 200-187 overall in 14 seasons as a Division II women's basketball coach and is 188-172 in his time at Concord.

David Wadlington is 30-76 in his four seasons at Ohio Valley.
