ATHENS, W.Va.--The Concord University men's soccer team and Bluefield College played to a 2-2 draw Wednesday afternoon at Anderson Field.

The Mountain Lions struck first as freshman Corey Gaylor tallied his first collegiate goal when he dribbled in the open field near the penalty box and drove the ball past Bluefield College goalkeeper Jefferson Watson.

Gaylor's goal came in the ninth minute and was assisted by Steve Lemire, who earned his first collegiate point.

The Rams would get even in the 32nd minute as Jacob Mader scored off of an assist from James Gunn.

Right before halftime, sophomore Ryan Forde would register his eight goal of the season as he fired a shot past Watson.

Forde's goal moves him into a tie for seventh place for most goals scored in one season and also in a tie for ninth for most points in a season with 16.

For most the second half Concord and Bluefield traded shots, but neither team could add to the scoreboard until Nick Rivadeneira got the Rams back on the board in the 80th minute.

In overtime neither team posed a serious threat as just four total shots were taken in the two-10 minute overtime sessions.

CU was able to outshoot the Rams 15-14. As a team, the Mountain Lions had five shots on goal. Forde tallied two shots on goal with Cole Cloonan, Sebastian Escobar and Gaylor having one a piece.

Concord also held the edge in corner kicks, 5-4.

Sophomore Mitchell Thompson and freshman Trevor Hoxworth split time in net. Thompson saved five shots in the first half and Hoxworth turned away seven shots in the second half and overtime periods.

With the draw, the Mountain Lions stand at 3-8-2. Meanwhile, Bluefield is 8-6-1.

Concord will continue its homestand when they resume Mountain East Conference games Saturday against Wheeling Jesuit. Kickoff at Anderson Field is set for 1:00 p.m.
