The way the schedule worked out, Concord's Women's Soccer team will be taking two road trips in different directions during Homecoming Week.

Wednesday, the Lady Lions headed west, visiting Tusculum College for a non-conference match in Greeneville, TN. Unfortunately, CU returned to Athens after a 3-1 defeat at Pioneer Field.

Concord carried the attack shortly after kickoff. Alyssa Hessian put a shot on goal in the 4th minute, and Erika Hoff fired a shot wide right in the 5th minute.

Tusculum steadied itself, and nearly squared the match when Tramicka James put a header off the post in the 10th minute. James would figure prominently in the outcome.

Michelle Meade put the Lady Pioneers ahead when she took a pass from James and fired a shot that bounced off the post and past Concord GK Kacey Hildebrand in the 26th minute.
James set up Kim Brown for a shot from the right side in the 40th minute, and the ball slipped past Hildebrand for a 2-0 lead.
James put the match out of reach in the 79th minute, when she looped in a shot from the corner that made the score 3-0.

Concord tallied in the 81st minute. Laura Smith (above right) and Nicole Dirnagl broke free for a two-on-one; Dirnagl passed to Smith, who curved a shot past Tusculum GK Marissa Williams for her first goal of the season.

Hildebrand posted seven saves for CU.  Tusculum forged a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Up next for the Lady Lions is a road trip to the northeast. Concord visits Shepherd for a WVIAC match on Saturday, September 24, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 pm in Shepherdstown, WV.
