ALL FIVE STARTERS REACH DOUBLE FIGURES IN WIN OVER GLENVILLE STATE

Rafee & Rick Half-Court vs GSC 305 x 235
The Concord Men's Basketball team got a little bit of everything Monday night, as all five starters scored in double figures in a 104-88 WVIAC victory over Glenville State at the Carter Center.

Rick Alderman turned in a nearly-perfect performance and gave CU a strong inside presence. Alderman was 10-10 from the field and 7-8 from the line in finishing with 27 points – the only shot he missed was his 8th and final free throw attempt with 3:07 left in the game.
He also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Corey Neeley and Aaron Fluellen gave CU threats on the perimeter. Neeley shot 7-11 in going for 17 points, while “Flu” turned in 13 points, three rebounds and eight assists with only one turnover. The duo combined to shoot 6-15 from three-point range.

Javaughn Half-Court vs GSC 314 x 235
Javaughn Acree-Manuel scored 14 points, including five in a row late in the game that put Concord in command. He drilled a three-pointer, then threw down a breakaway dunk on the next possession, to push the Mountain Lions' lead to 98-84 with 1:56 left.

Gentry Shrewsbury paired with Alderman to attack Glenville State with drives from the free throw line. He finished with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists with no turnovers.

Concord led early, but GSC would move out to a 25-24 lead with 6:50 left in the 1st half. But an Alderman jumper and four straight points from Acree-Manuel put CU ahead 30-25 less than a minute later, and the Mountain Lions would have the lead for the rest of the game.

Concord led 44-36 at halftime. The Mountain Lions' lead hovered around 5-10 points through much of the 2nd half before the Pioneers put on a last push. They went on a 12-4 rally to pull within 82-78 with 7:32 remaining, but Jerontae Hunter and Neeley score on back-to-back trips to put CU up 86-78 and Concord's lead would never be lower than six points the rest of the game.

Half-Court vs GSC 285 x 235
The Mountain Lions assailed the Glenville State defense by shooting .580 (40-69) from the field, including a sizzling .649 (24-37) in the 2nd half. The Pioneers finished at .500 (31-62), .563 (18-32) after halftime.

Justin Caldwell paced Glenville State (4-18, 4-15) with 39 points, shooting 12-27 from the field and 13-13 from the free throw line.
