November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and the Concord Department of Athletics has announced that the Mountain Lions' basketball doubleheader this coming Wednesday, November 16, will be “Purple Day.”

Fans attending Concord's twinbill against West Virginia State are encouraged to wear purple to raise awareness of the fight against the 4th-leading cause of cancer deaths in America.

The women's game begins at 5:30 pm, with the men's contest slated to tip off at 7:30.

Pancreatic cancer kills nearly 40,000 Americans every year.  It's a particularly insidious form of cancer, with vague, sometimes confusing symptoms that can make it difficult to diagnose.

More than 43,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and the average life expectancy after diagnosis is just 3-6 months.

CU is working in conjunction with Pancreatic Cancer Action Network for “Purple Day.”   Purple ribbons will be given out, and half the gate receipts from the game will be donated to the PCAC. Donations will also be accepted.
