MEN'S GOLF: FIRST ROUND LEAD

CU ON TOP AFTER DAY ONE OF WVIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Having an early lead doesn't guarantee final success, but it's a nice thing to have.

Concord's Men's Golf team holds a narrow lead after Sunday's first round of the WVIAC Championships, played at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.

The Mountain Lions' 315 team total is five strokes ahead of Pitt-Johnstown.  The University of Charleston is in third, eight shots back, with West Liberty and Bluefield State rounding out the top five.

Concord's Sebastian Starud posted the lowest individual score of the day.  The junior from Vallentuna, Sweden fired a 74 on the 6844-yard, par-71 Cobb Course.

Evan Muscari carded a 77 to tie for fourth place.

Nathaniel Begley (81) tied for 17th, Matt Morgan (83) tied for 21st and Jamie Arthur (87) tied for 46th.

TEAM-BY-TEAM INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

The second round of the WVIAC Championships will be Monday, October 17.  The third and final round is scheduled for the following day.
