LADY LIONS GO 0-2 AT FIRST DAY OF FALCON FEST

Many people go to parties or soirees or bashes or get-togethers over Labor Day weekend.

The Concord Volleyball headed to a festival.

The Lady Lions opened their 2010 season with a pair of matches Friday, at the Falcon Fest tournament in Fairmont, WV.

CU dropped its first match to Edinboro University (PA), 25-19, 25-13, 25-14.  In its next match, Concord bowed to WVIAC foe West Liberty, in a non-conference match, 17-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-20.

Against Edinboro, Tori Fornadel had five kills, Helen Theisen eight assists and Nicole Atkinson five digs.

In the West Liberty match, Amber Miller led Concord with 10 kills, with Kayla Martin adding seven.  Helen Theisen distributed 18 assists and Meredith Shifley chipped in 10.  In digs, Emily Wilson had 10, Shifley nine, and Miller and Allie Pennington eight each.

Concord concludes its Falcon Fest appearance with two matches on Saturday, September 4.  The Lady Lions meet Notre Dame College (OH) at 12:00 pm and Chowan University (NC) at 2:00 pm.
