PETERS TOPS MEN; PYE POSTS WOMEN'S FASTEST TIME

Concord's Cross Country teams opened the 2010 season at the VMI Relays in Lexington, VA on Friday, September 3.

For the Men's team, Robbie Peters was the first CU runner to the finish, coming in 3rd.  Sterling Snyder (8th) and Szymon Rola (9th) gave the Mountain Lions two other top ten individual results.

In the Men's Team category, the duo of Peters and Snyder was 4th.  Craig Pritt and Rola were 6th, with Nick Lucento and Nathan Rees 9th.

For the Women, Danielle Pye was CU's top individual, finishing 5th.

In Team results, the duo of Shawnee Carnett and Rachel Williams was 7th, with Tabitha Whited and Pye crossing the line in 8th.

"All in all, it was a solid meet for us," CU head coach Mike Cox said.  "The women's race was very tight and could've gone either way.  The heat was an issue -- it was really hot!
"I'm pleased with where we are right now.  We just need to keep our focus on being better for the end of the season."

CU's Cross Country teams will run next at the Virginia Tech Alumni Meet in Blacksburg, VA on September 17.
