Alderson-Broaddus took a double-digit lead three minutes into the game, and would hold off Concord for a 92-79 victory over the Mountain Lions in men's basketball Friday afternoon at the Carter Center.
After CU scored the first basket, the Battlers scored the next 12 points to go up by ten. Their lead would grow to as much as 16 points before Concord closed the gap to 41-34 with 4:25 remaining in the first half.
The Battlers led 57-45 at halftime and took their biggest lead at 73-54 with 12:22 remaining.
A-B's Jamar Board showed the form that has home among the nation's leading outside shooters. The sophomore left-hander torched Concord for 30 points, including an 8-14 performance from three-point range. Board has made 103 three-pointers in the Battlers' 20 games.
Chance Smith led Concord with 16 points, shooting 7-10 from the floor. Damien Tunstalle added 13 points. Gentry Shrewsbury chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
Due to weather-related postponements and rescheduling, Friday was Concord's first game in eight days. They now face a quick turnaround, with a visit to Davis & Elkins tomorrow.
Tip-time is set for 4:00 pm EST in Elkins.
