CU SETTLES FOR SEASON SPLIT WITH BLUEFIELD COLLEGE

Tori Fornadel Spike #2 vs BC 185 x 314
Bluefield College (VA) exacted a measure of revenge on the Concord Volleyball team Monday night, defeating the Lady Lions in four sets in a non-conference match at the Carter.

The Lady Rams' 25-19, 25-22, 18-25, 25-21 victory was revenge for Concord's four-set victory in Bluefield on September 29.

BC had a narrow edge in hitting percentage on Monday night, .150 to .145. Concord, meanwhile, committed 11 more errors (24 to 13) in just six more total attacks (159 to 153).

In fact, the CU had a better percentage over the first two sets, .226 to .143, even as the Lady Rams opened what proved to be an insurmountable lead.

Tori Fornadel and Amber Miller led CU with ten kills each, with Fornadel hitting .240 and Miller adding a match-high 24 digs.

Kayla Martin hit a team-high .286 while supplying nine kills. Emily Wilson floored eight kills to go with 11 digs.

Helen Theisen went for six kills, three aces, 18 digs and a match-high 28 assists.

Libero Allie Pennington chipped in 21 digs and three aces.

Alyssa Weddle and Takashi Franklin combined for 21 kills and a .300 hitting percentage to pace Bluefield College (5-17).

Concord (8-15) won't have much time to dwell on Monday's setback. Up next is a visit to Virginia Intermont for a non-conference match tomorrow night at 6:30.
