The rebuilding Concord Volleyball program figured it would have its hands full with a Wheeling Jesuit program already well-built to handle the WVIAC.
The Cardinals remained unbeaten in the conference and solidified their hold on first place by sweeping the Mountain Lions, 25-21, 25-11, 25-17 Friday night in the McDonough Health & Recreation Center on the WJU campus.
Wheeling Jesuit is ranked #6 in this week's NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll, conducted by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Cardinals lead the WVIAC in kills, hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, assists and digs.
Friday's result improved WJU to 26-5, 11-0 WVIAC. Concord fell to 11-17, 3-8. CU stands in 11th place in the conference.
The Mountain Lions conclude their trip to the Northern Panhandle with a visit to West Liberty State Saturday evening. The Hilltoppers are 5-20, 2-10 WVIAC (13th).
The Halloween day match was originally scheduled to begin at 11:00 am. It was moved to 5:00 pm to avoid a conflict with West Liberty's home football game against Seton Hill, which kicks off at 1:00 pm.
