Lady Lions Win Another Big Game

Buchannon, WV-  In a tight WVIAC women's race it is important that Concord win every contest to stay in contention for the regular season title. Concord stayed close tonight by putting away West Virginia Wesleyan on their home court. Concord defeated the Lady Bobcats 71-64.

The first half was an old fashioned barn burner as both teams shot nearly the same percentage in all aspects of the game. Concord shot 45 percent in the first half as the Lady Bobcats shot 46 percent.

Both teams made a couple of three pointers and the score at the end of the first half reflected the game stats. Concord led by 2 at the break 32-30.

The second seemly was just as close as the first as both squads played extremely well. The difference at the end of the night came down to foul shooting.

The Lady Lions made 14 second half fouls shots (Wesleyan made 9 foul shots) which lifted them to a victory at the end of the night. Concord defeated the Lady Bobcats 71-64.

Amber Showalter led Concord is scoring as she notched another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Becca Flanagan added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sierra Brown and Samm Nester both contributed 12 points of their own.

Concord (15-5, WVIAC 11-3) will be back in action at home this Saturday, February 9th at 2:00pm as the welcome in the Salem International Tigers.
