Concord Men's Basketball Team Open with a Thriller Win in the Road Against Belmont Abbey

Belmont, NC- The Concord Mountain Lions began the 2007-2008 season on the road in Belmont, NC. The Mountain Lions ended the game on a 9-1 run capped by a 2 point-bucket by Dannie Parker to seal the victory. The Mountain Lions defeated the Knights of Belmont Abbey 84-82.

Concord took the halftime lead at 42-41. But the Knights came out strong in the second half as they led by as many as 9 points on three different occasions. At the 4:17 mark Concord went on their 9-1 run to finish out the game.

Anthony Landsdowne led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 24 points, off a 9-19 scoring night (4/11 from 3-point range). Dannie Parker began the season with a double-double as he had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Cordell Boyd also added 10 points in the win.

The Mountain Lions (1-0, WVIAC 0-0) will be playing the Bluefield State Tournament at Bluefield State College on November 23rd and 24th.
