Athens, WV- Concord hosted the first round game with Pitt-Johnstown on Anderson Field. The Lady Lions won impressively over the Lady Cats 3-0.
Pitt-Johnstown best chance to score came in the 37th minute of the game as Sarah Coelho made a save off a hard shot. The deflection made a scoring oppertunity for the Lady Cats. However, Megan Davies cleared the ball away from danger and moved Concord on offense.
In the 40th minute of the game Lindsey DeVaughn scored what proved to be the game winner. Gemma Northcliffe passed the ball passed a charing Lady Cat goal keeper and Lindsey DeVaughn stuck the ball home.
Four minutes later in the 44th minute Laura Ciccone dribbed through three Lady Cats and pushed the ball into the back of the net. Concord led at half 2-0.
Concord added one more goa for security in the 79th minute of teh game as Katie Cuviello found Leslie Kirk for the score. The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Cats 3-0.
Sarah Coelho had an impressive day in goal as she ended the game with 12 saves, 8 of which were made in the second half.
Concord (1-0 WVIAC Tournament) will be at Wheeling Jesuit on Friday to take on the number one team in the North. Concord defeated the Lady Cardinals at home earlier in the season 2-0. Game time is set for 6:00pm in Wheeling, WV.
