Weitzel ran a NCAA Provisional qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run at Grand Valley State. Weitzel's time of 14:33.30 was also a school record as he finished 11th in a talented field of competition. Weitzel's time in the 5,000-meters ranks him 36th in the nation, and Weitzel now has the school record in the 5,000-meters in both indoor and outdoor track.
