Weitzel ran a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Fred Hardy Invite as he stopped the clock at 9:14.30. It was the 10th-best time in Division II this season and also a new school record for the Athens, West Virginia native. Additionally, Weitzel also grabbed the individual win in the event.
