Ruiz placed sixth in the mile at the Wake Forest Invite, clocking a time of 5:39.05, which was less than a second away from a personal-best. The Charles Town, West Virginia native helped CU's distance medley team to a fifth-place showing as it clocked a time of 13:35.20.
