Shawnee Carnett ensured herself of a spot at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships by running the 800-meters in an automatic qualifying time of 2:08.51 to lead the Concord University women's track and field team at the Virginia Tech Challenge.

In addition to being a school record, Carnett's time is currently the second fastest 800-meter mark in all of the Division II. Carnett, who was over two seconds faster than her nearest competition Saturday, trails only Helen Crofts' (Simon Fraser) time of 2:07.34 in the national rankings.
