Gardner took over the Mountain East Conference lead in the 400-meter dash as he sprinted a time of 48.72 seconds at High Point's VertKlasse Meeting over the weekend. Gardner's time was a season best and was only 0.5 seconds of his career-best time. Gardner finished eighth in the event, but was the third Division II finisher.
