Luke Duffy

Duffy will assume the role of coaching both programs beginning this spring during the scrimmage season and begin his first full season on the sidelines of the men's and women's soccer teams in the fall of 2022.

The sixth-year women's soccer head coach takes over a men's program that was guided by the recently-retired Steve Barrett who coached at Concord for 23 years between the men's and women's programs.

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to take over the men's soccer program here at Concord," Duffy said. "Over my six years at Concord, I've built a lot of trust and respect for what Coach Barrett has meant to the Concord community. I'm looking forward to the challenge of obtaining the same success with the men's soccer program that we have instilled in our women's program."

In his six years leading the women's program, Duffy has amassed a record of 72-27-13. Duffy's teams have appeared in four straight Mountain East Conference Championship Games, winning two of the last three. This past fall, he coached CU to an MEC Championship, an NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.

"I'm excited for Luke to lead our men's soccer program," Garrett said. "His knowledge of the game and success on the field speaks for itself. He's a relentless recruiter and will find the talent we need to compete in the MEC."

Duffy is no stranger to not only women's soccer, but also the men's game. As a player at Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, North Carolina, he was a four-time all-conference and all-region player for the Bobcats. As a central defender, he helped lead LMC to an appearance in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship Game and was an All-American the same season.
