After a historic run as Concord's men's basketball coach, Steve Cox has been Concord's Director of Compliance since the 2018-19 academic year.
This is Cox's second stint as director of compliance after he held the run while also coaching CU men's basketball from 1989-2011.
As a head coach, Cox and the Mountain Lions won three WVIAC Championships (1991, 1995, 1997) and advanced to the NAIA Sweet 16 in 1991. Cox racked up 336 career wins. He was inducted into the Concord Hall of Fame in 2015.
A native of Salem, West Virginia, Cox graduated from Bristol High School and attended Salem College, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He went on to earn a Master’s in Education Administration from West Virginia University in 1978. He began his career at Concord later that year.
Cox and his wife Carolyn have three daughters – Laura Cox Williams, Jill Cox Nolan and Stacy Cox – and five grandchildren.
