Pat Mahoney has been versatile in his coaching duties with the Concord University football team, coaching outside linebackers, tight ends and running backs in his first two seasons with the program.

In his only season coaching the outside linebackers in 2015, Mahoney helped senior Ervin Moore be named All-Mountain East Conference Second Team. Mahoney also helped fellow senior linebacker Cade Rogers become football's first Academic All-American. During the 2015 season, CU's outside linebacker accumulated 168 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and eight sacks.

In 2016, Mahoney switched to the offensive side of the ball to coach running backs before moving to tutoring the tight ends during spring football practice in 2017. Mahoney will work under his uncle, Don, in the fall of 2017 after he assumed offensive coordinator duties in the winter.

Mahoney comes to CU after a successful playing career at Division III powerhouse Mount Union where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines. During his freshman and sophomore seasons for the Purple Raiders, Mahoney appeared in 24 games on defense.

In his final two seasons at Mount Union, Mahoney started 28 games along the offensive line. Additionally, the Jeanette, Pennsylvania native was a part of a national championship team in 2012 as the Purple Raiders downed St. Thomas (Minn.) 28-10.

While Mahoney suited up for Purple Raiders, they made two more national championship game appearances.

Mahoney has familiarity with Concord having gone to the same high school as CU defensive line coach Pat Dawson.

At Concord, Mahoney will be in charge of CU's outside linebackers. Mahoney will also study in the institution's health promotion master's program.
