FRESHMEN PHENOMS
Concord has gotten a big lift from some true freshman over the last few games. Midfielder Josiah Ochoa has collected a goal contribution in the previous three matches and in four of the last five matches for CU. The Trinidad and Tobago native ranks second on the team in goals (2), assists (2) and points (6). Midfielder Mario Bedford has also come up big for the Mountain Lions as of late. Bedford scored the game-winning goal against Shawnee State and picked up an assist in each of the two following games to boost the Concord offense.
SECOND HALF SUCCESS
The second half against Point Park featured some of the best soccer the Mountain Lions have pieced together all season long. Junior forward Lucas Costa slotted home a penalty that came off some great link-up play. Sophomore forward Louis Learoyd not only won the penalty but then provided an assist to junior midfielder Keeyan Thomas to double Concord's lead. CU has scored six goals and allowed just three in the second half of games in 2026.
TANAKA TIME
Junior goalkeeper Iori Tanaka has been rock solid through eight games this season. Tanaka posts the MEC's best goals against average (0.65). While Tanaka hasn't been called upon a ton, he posts the third highest save percentage (.762) and is the league-leader with five shutouts. The Mountain Lions have registered shutouts in three of four conference matches.
TIME FOR REVENGE
Last time Concord and Frostburg State laced 'em up in Athens, the Maroon and Gray suffered a devastating loss. CU struck first in the 21st minute and led all the way up until the 85th minute. That's when the Bobcats struck twice in just 30 seconds to pry the victory out of Concord's hands. The match featured 12 cards, including a red card to a member of the Frostburg State coaching staff.Â
SCOUTING THE WHEELING CARDINALS
Despite a slower start to the season, Wheeling is coming off of its best result of the season. The Cardinals breezed past Seton Hill in a 5-1 non-conference affair. Jon-Michael Gordon paces the Cardinals with four goals thus far.
SCOUTING THE FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS
Frostburg State just fell out of the top 25 after a loss to Point Park last week. This is still the only defeat on the season for the Bobcats who are in great form to start 2026. The signature win came at the start of September as FSU upset then nationally-ranked number eight Bloomsburg. Frank Stare looks to be one of the conference's finest players, already up to six goals and 15 total points in 2026.
