ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Glenville State Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference South Division game at Callaghan Stadium.

Even though CU (1-6, 1-4 MEC) had a 9-8 overall shots advantage in the game, it was Glenville State (4-3, 4-1 MEC) that broke through in the 82^nd minute with the game's only goal.

The Mountain Lions were the better team through 20 minutes, recording four of their first six first-half shots in the first 19 minutes of the contest. GSU, however, kept Concord off the board and tallied four shots of its own between the 27^th and 37^th minute.

The game went to halftime with CU holding a 6-4 advantage in shots. The best chance for the Maroon and Gray came on a free kick from 35 yards out by senior defender Katie Garratt that was punched away in the 43^rd minute.

Offense was at premium in the second half as there were only seven combined shots.

Junior forward Ailsa Swinburne wrapped her left foot around a shot from the top of the penalty box in the 54^th minute that was sent just wide, keeping the game scoreless.

The Pioneers sent a ball towards the goal in the 82^nd minute that snuck across the line for the game's only tally.

After going down 1-0, sophomore defender Molly Watters had a shot slide just left in the 88^th minute.

Junior defender Ella Rowell, Swinburne and Watters all had two shots for Concord.

Junior midfielder Eve Harriott joined Garratt and Rowell as CU players with shots on goal in the game.

The Mountain Lions wrap up a two-game homestand 12:00 p.m. Wednesday when they face Point Park at Callaghan Stadium.
