ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Shawnee State in a Mountain East Conference South Division game at Callaghan Stadium Sunday afternoon.

CU (1-4, 1-2 MEC) tallied two goals in the first half before netting four more in the second half. Defensively, the Mountain Lions only allowed two shots by the Bears (0-3-1, 0-2-1 MEC).

Senior defender Katie Garratt opened the scoring with a free kick from just outside the penalty area in the ninth minute. The goal was twisted into the top left corner of the net. On a counter attack in the 23^rd minute, sophomore midfielder Daisy Cook slipped a goal into the bottom of the net as junior defender Ella Rowell and junior forward Ailsa Swinburne assisted on the goal.

The next two Concord goals came just over 90 second apart.

In the 47^th minute, junior midfielder Lilly Lucas had a ball landed at her feet after a corner kick was cleared away. Lucas ripped a shot from just inside 25 yards that rolled into the bottom left corner. Sophomore defender Molly Watters powered a shot into the goal in the 49^th minute from inside the penalty area.

In the 51^st minute, Cook followed up a free kick from Garratt that smacked off the right post for her second goal of the game. And Garratt capped the scoring in the 61^st minute with a laser free kick from 35 yards to the top left of the goal.

Garratt and Watters accounted for eight shots each as Concord took 32 shots in the game. Cook registered five shots with four on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kayla Garza made a second-half save to record her first career shutout.

The six goals scored by the Mountain Lions were the most in a conference game since putting six on the board against West Virginia Wesleyan in October 2024.

Concord travels to West Virginia State for a 6:00 p.m. start Wednesday.
