Concord Finishes 20th at Charleston Invite

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team finished 20th at the University of Charleston Invite that was contested Wednesday and Thursday at Berry Hills Country Club.

The Mountain Lions tallied team rounds of 316, 311 and 312 for a total of 939.

After opening up with an 81 during the first round, sophomore Henry Lewis improved by five strokes in each of the next two rounds with scores of 76 and 71. During the final round Thursday, Lewis was -2, 32 on the back nine with three birdies—on the 11th, 13th and 16th holes. For the tournament, Lewis had six birdies.

Freshman Austin Brianka tied for the team lead with six birdies with three in his low round of 76 in the first round. He added two more red numbers in the second round, and birdied the par-4, 380-yard second hold for the second time in the tournament in the third round. Brianka had a tournament total of 234.

Sophomore Jackson Williams recorded a 54-hole total of 240 (79, 78, 83). Freshman Leo Walton was two strokes back with rounds of 80, 79 and 83. Junior Jonah Willson shot a 245 while freshman Landon Lindsey tallied 253.

The team winner was West Chester, holding off a crowded field. WCU shot 865 while five other teams were within eight strokes.

The individual winner was Glenville State's Daiki Aiura who posted back-to-back 66s in the final two rounds to shoot -7 for the tournament.

Concord competes at the Wally Edgell Invitational at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia.
