ATHENS, W.Va. – Sophomore
Jonah Willson of the Concord University men's golf team has been pegged Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization released Tuesday afternoon.
Willson, the native of Daniels, West Virginia, was consistently in the Concord lineup during the fall and spring seasons. After a strong freshman campaign, Willson averaged 81.3 per 18 holes over 18 rounds.
Willson started the fall season strong as three of his first four rounds were 78 or better, including firing a 74 which matched a career best during the first round of the Charleston Fall Invite in September. He had a top-10 finish at the Battle for Draper to conclude the spring season. Willson was also in Concord's lineup for the Mountain East Conference Championship.
In the classroom, Willson has a 3.58 GPA as a biology major. He has been on the Concord Dean's List three of his four completed semesters of undergraduate work, and has appeared on the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll twice.
To be eligible for Academic All-District from CSC, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA cumulative GPA and have played in 75 percent of team rounds OR be in the lineup at the conference championship.
