ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team swept its final regular-season doubleheader as it downed Davis & Elkins 12-6 and 14-3 Friday afternoon in a pair of Mountain East Conference games at Joni Smith Field.

Game 1: Concord 12 – Davis & Elkins 6
CU never trailed in the contest despite some back-and-forth in the game early on.
Senior pitcher/infielder
Madison Hollis opened the scoring in the first inning with a three-run home run out to right center field which was the start of a big game for the Mountain Lions' two-way player. Later in the first inning, senior outfielder
Alina Giles launched her sixth home run of the season to take the lead to 4-0.
Davis & Elkins, though, cut the margin to 4-3 heading to the second inning.
An infield single by senior infielder
Lacie Lewis pushed the lead back to two runs, 5-3, in the second—where it stayed until the bottom of the third inning when a solo home run from the Senators trimmed the lead to a run.
A three-run fourth inning gave the Mountain Lions a cushion as Hollis brought in two runs on a single, scoring Lewis and sophomore utility
Kristy McCord. Hollis scored later in the inning to complete the rally.
D&E got within 8-6 in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double, but Concord put the game out of reach with a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
An error brought in McCord after she had reached on a two-out double in the sixth.
Lewis had her own double in the seventh that scored junior infielder
Kendall Morgan. Hollis capped her eight-RBI game with a double to left center field that plated Lewis and McCord.
Hollis, Lewis and freshman catcher/infielder
Hannah Niten all had three hits. Hollis' eight RBI were a single-game program record. Both hits for Morgan were doubles. McCord finished the contest 2-for-4 with four runs scored.
Hollis (16-8) went all seven innings in the circle as she struck out four batters.
Game 2: Concord 14 – Davis & Elkins 3
The Mountain Lions posted a season-high 14 runs with all of them coming in their final four at-bats.
After a slow start, senior catcher
Kayla Sholter opened the scoring with an RBI double in the fourth inning that brought in senior outfielder
Morgan Gleason.
With sophomore pitcher/outfielder
Reghan Hintz retiring 12 of the first 14 batters she faced, the Concord offense gave her more run support in the fifth inning. Morgan notched a one-out single and progressed along before scoring on a wild pitch. McCord restarted the rally with a two-out walk and raced around the bases on an RBI double by Hollis.
Holding a 3-0 edge, Lewis helped CU expand the lead in the sixth as she was responsible for three of the four runs scoring in the frame. Giles came in on a fielder's choice after she doubled to lead off the inning. Then with two runners on and two outs, Lewis struck a three-run home run to take the advantage to 7-0.
D&E got within 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Mountain Lions scored seven times in the seventh.
Back-to-back two-run doubles from freshman outfielder
Grace Dodson and Morgan grew the lead to 11-3. Lewis followed with a solo home run, and Hollis crushed a two-run homer two batters later that scored McCord.
Lewis was 3-for-5 in the nightcap with two home runs and four RBI. Four other Mountain Lions had two hits: Hintz, Hollis, Morgan and Niten. Hollis drove in three runs while Morgan added two RBI. McCord drew three walks and scored twice.
Hintz (9-13) went the distance in the circle as she allowed three runs on three hits and struck out eight.
