Lugo, Matos Tamargo Pick Up All-MEC Honorable Mention

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Freshman Kendra Lugo and sophomore Sara Matos Tamargo of the Concord University women's golf team have been honored as All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention after the conclusion of the MEC Spring Classic Monday afternoon.

Lugo, a native of New Port Richey, Florida, earned the all-conference nod after averaging 85.0 during five rounds of MEC competition—the MEC Spring Classic coupled with the MEC Championship in October. Her best round of MEC-sponsored rounds came during Monday's final round at Green Hills CC in Fairmont, West Virginia where she shot 81. Lugo was 13^th at the MEC Championship and placed 16^th at the MEC Spring Classic.

Matos Tamargo averaged 94.4 during five rounds of MEC play. Like Lugo, the Miami, Florida native put together her best round during Monday's second round in Fairmont. Her score of 90 was just four strokes off her season best round. Matos Tamargo recorded a top-20 finish at the MEC Tournament by placing 18^th. She was 26^th at the MEC Spring Classic.

The 2025-26 season marks the second year in a row, but just the third time in the last seven years that Concord has had multiple women's golfers earn All-MEC. Mary Denny was All-MEC Second Team last year while Anna Fry was All-MEC Honorable Mention.

Mari Fillipa Larsen from Charleston was the MEC Player of the Year. Glenville State's Moa Lindgren picked up MEC Freshman of the Year. And UC's Will Johnson was the MEC Coach of the Year.
