SALEM, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team outlasted Salem for a 97-94 overtime win Wednesday night in a non-conference contest at Davis Gymnasium.
Salem (7-13) made three free throws with 31 seconds remaining, and a last-second three-pointer from CU (11-9) was short to send the game to overtime tied at 82-82.
The Tigers nailed a triple on the first possession of the extra session, but the next five points belonged to Concord as an offensive putback from junior forward
Anfernee Hanna gave the Maroon and Gray an 87-85 edge. Salem tied the game on the next possession, but back-to-back three-pointers by sophomore guard

Eldon Terry pushed the lead to 93-89.

Savier McCall restored the same four-point edge, 95-91, with 46 seconds remaining. But, the Tigers weren't done as nine seconds later a three-pointer fell for SU. Freshman guard
Micah Young pushed the lead back to three with two more foul shots.
And the Mountain Lions were able to get a stop as time expired to hang on for the 97-94 victory.
Concord trailed by as much as seven points as SU opened the game on an 8-1 run. The Mountain Lions chipped away at the lead as it tied the game on a pair of Terry free throws with 7:24 remaining in the first half.
After Salem scored on the next trip up the floor, CU ripped off a 16-6 run to close the first half, taking a 41-33 lead into the intermission.
The surge continued for Concord into the second half as Rickards hit one of his five three-pointers in the contest to extend the lead to 57-46 at the 14:38 mark. The margin eventually worked its way up to 14 points, 60-46, just under 90 seconds later after Terry buried a triple.
Salem rallied all the way back to take a 79-78 edge with 1:25 remaining in regulation. However, Young converted back-to-back buckets to get the lead back to three points before the late foul shots by the Tigers.
All five Concord starters finished in double figures led by a career-high 26 points from McCall. He recorded his first career double-double with a career-best 13 rebounds. Rickards just missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Young tallied 21 points to go with six rebounds. Hanna threw in 15 points, and Terry added 10 points, five rebounds and a career-best five blocks.
The Mountain Lions recorded a season-best nine blocks as Hanna also chipped in two.
CU's 11 three-pointers ended up being the difference in the game as Concord outscored Salem 33-24 on triples. Rickards (five), Terry (two), Young (two) combined for nine three-pointers.
The Mountain Lions host Point Park 4:00 p.m. Saturday on Senior Day.
