PITCHING WINS
Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Reghan Hintz and senior pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis shined in Concord's twinbill versus Belmont Abbey. Hintz fanned a career-best nine batters in her complete game performance as it marked the most strikeouts for a CU pitcher in two seasons. She limited BAC to four hits in the game and only walked two batters. Hollis continued her strong form. After tossing an eight-inning shutout against Lincoln Memorial last Monday, the McMinnville, Tennessee native held Belmont Abbey to three runs in the nightcap. Hollis improved to 2-1 on the season. Last year, she did not win her second game of the year until March 23 at West Virginia Wesleyan. Hintz earned her first win of the year in game one against Belmont Abbey.

LET'S RUN
Seven of Concord's 11 stolen bases for the season came in game two versus the Crusaders Saturday afternoon as the Maroon and Grya was only caught stealing once. One of the four runs that CU generated in one-run victory was a double steal in the first inning by senior outfielder Alina Giles and senior infielder Lacie Lewis. Junior infielder Kendall Morgan swiped two bases. Senior outfielder Morgan Gleason also came up with her 31st stolen base as she inches closer to ninth all-time in stolen bases in program history—at 35 held by her older sister Becca Gleason (2010-13). The seven stolen bases by the Mountain Lions were the most in a game in program history.

FINE FIELDING
The Mountain Lions were flawless in the field against Belmont Abbey as they went errorless in both games. Of note, 13 of the 21 outs recorded by Hollis were on the ground. And 10 of those 13 outs went to the left side of the infield where Morgan (six) and Lewis (four) combined for 10 infield assists. Lewis was asked to make a play after the ball glanced off Hollis' glove in the circle. The last time Concord had three consecutive errorless games was in April 2022. In the first four games of this season, CU had 12 errors.

REGIONAL RIVALRY
Concord and UVa.-Wise meet for the first time on the softball diamond since a CU sweep on the road in February 2024. Hollis and Lewis both homered to power the Mountain Lions to an 8-6 win in game one. Lewis added a second home run in game two as CU rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit to win 6-5. Overall, Lewis was 3-for-6 in the two games against the Cavaliers with a home run, a double and five RBI. Hollis was the winning pitcher in game as she tossed 4.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
UVa.-Wise is off to an 8-2 start behind a potent offense that is hitting .340. Kaylynn Baker is hitting .548 with seven doubles and 13 RBI. Taylor Noe has driven in 10 RBI. The pitching staff for UVa.-Wise is allowing the opposition to bat .307. Despite only starting one game in the circle, Olivia Shockley is 3-0 with 19 strikeouts in 20 innings. Over the weekend, UVa.-Wise defeated fellow MEC foe Charleston, 11-10 and 7-5.
